Choosing an Air Roll
Keep in mind, most tutorials are Air Roll Left
The box with the most marks should be the air roll you bind
Choose Air Roll Left
More Comfortable with using the
right side of analog stick
Flip towards the left more
Turn to the right more when you flick - flick to the left
Choose Air Roll Right
More Comfortable with using the
left side of analog stick
Flip towards the right more
Turn to the left more when you flick - flick to the right
Leaving the Ground
Important Notes
The circles in the images above represent an analog stick. If you are on Keyboard, the same directions apply
If you move your analog in the green, your nose should initially raise off the ground
Green - Nose comes up = Good for aerials
Red - Nose drops into the ground = Not good for aerials
If you hold the directional air roll long enough, your nose will always point up, but these are the fastest ways to get your nose up
When Using Air Roll Left:
Going to the Right can be harder on the takeoff
When Using Air Roll Right:
Going to the Left can be harder on the takeoff
This is more difficult because it's harder to get a sharp turn off the jump because of the direction of the air roll
A Tip to help you turn in the "harder" direction would be to jump and turn your car to the desired direction before air rolling
Specific Takeoff Directions - Refer to Image Above
The areas next to the border (where green + white meet) are very tricky. Use these tips to help you control those movements
Border Area - Down Direction
When using the down direction to raise your nose, you should almost immediately cancel (bring your joystick up) to continue going up. If you don't, you will quickly spiral into the ground
First Jump = No Cancel
Second Jump = Cancel
Border Area - Up and Diagonal
This zone is a very touchy area, you have to get used to the movements. Right next to this area will bring your nose down.
If you want to be safe, stay more towards the middle of the green
Advanced Tip
To keep your nose up while using up and diagonal, bring your analog to the opposite side when you see the bottom of your car

The Diagram
Looking at this can be extremely complicated at first
First, pick, what do you use? Air Roll right or Air Roll Left. Now focus on that half
Using this diagram, you can figure out which direction your car will move based on how your car is oriented
Review the example at the bottom called "how to use" and go test it out by going into freeplay / training!
Clip Review - Move Specific Directions
When watching these clips, pay attention to where my analog stick is and which direction my car is facing
I added slow motion to help you understand where the car is and when the analog stick is moved
For Air Roll Right - Everything is Opposite
Additional Information
The most efficient way to use Directional Air Roll is to use minimal adjustments. This means you shouldn't be moving your stick every millisecond all over the place. This will come later as you become more comfortable with air roll
Moving your analog quickly in a circle will cancel all directions and keep your car flying in a straight path
Practicing in Slow Motion can be a great help
